Courtney Jordan is a father of five, an entrepreneur and a philanthropist who believes the most lasting investments are the ones made in people.

Long before he built companies, Courtney Jordan was a boy in North Carolina who found reading painfully hard. A learning disability made the classroom a daily test of patience, and it was, unexpectedly, the study of Latin that turned things around. Learning how a language is put together taught him how to learn, and it gave him a confidence he has never lost. It is the reason education sits at the center of almost everything he supports today.

His early years also brought real loss. His sister died when he was fourteen, his father not long after, and a period of serious illness in early adulthood tested him further. Those years left him with a conviction that still guides his work: people facing hardship rarely need rescuing so much as a fair opportunity and someone willing to stand alongside them while they take it.

Building

A self-taught programmer, Mr Jordan started his first business in his early twenties, when he and a college friend developed a mobile security feature that was later acquired. Other ventures followed, among them Venture Beyond and The Courtney Jordan Group, which took young people on cultural excursions and ran immersive learning camps. Those businesses became the foundation of Neyius, the family office and group of companies he leads as Founder and Executive Chairman, with interests in technology, textiles, energy, media and hospitality.

Giving

He has always treated success as something to be shared. Through the Courtney Jordan Foundation, he supports community learning centers, workforce training, schooling for girls, small business lending and disaster preparedness across the United States, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. His personal giving, through Courtney Jordan Philanthropies, focuses on education and entrepreneurship, the arts, and food and housing security. The Foundation’s guiding phrase, Help One, Help Many, is the clearest summary of his outlook.

Stagmere

Mr Jordan is the Lord of the Manor of Stagmere and custodian of the historic Stagmere Estate in Hertfordshire, England. The acquisition was undertaken on his behalf through his associated trust and company, through which both the historic manor house and the distinct hereditary Lordship of the Manor of Stagmere were acquired.

The lordship itself is a historic incorporeal hereditament, legally distinct from ownership of the physical property. It is the acquisition of this separate manorial title that entitles Mr Jordan to be known as the Lord of the Manor of Stagmere.

The acquisition brought together the historic seat of the manor and its associated manorial lordship. Mr Jordan approaches the position as one of stewardship, with a particular interest in preserving the estate’s heritage, history and place within the surrounding Hertfordshire community.

Faith, learning and recognition

He holds a Master of Arts and a Juris Doctor and is completing a doctorate in Theology and Apologetics. His Christian faith is the quiet motive behind much of his giving. His work in education has been recognized with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Education and with a commendation from Congressman G. K. Butterfield for his contribution to curriculum development. Through Courthology, he writes about resilience, failure and the discipline of growth.

Family

Above all, he is a father. Mr Jordan has five sons, and he divides his time between London and the United States. Family, faith and the belief that a fair chance can change the course of a life remain the threads that tie his work together.
